Patients praise Cedarville Hospital for stepping in during strike by nurses and midwives

Cedarville Hospital

Founder of Cedarville Hospital, Dr. Robert Doh, has revealed that five people lost their lives during the recent strike by nurses and midwives, due to delays in accessing medical care.

In an interview with our reporter, Dr. Doh said the victims—including a 10-year-old boy—were brought in dead after failing to receive prompt medical attention.

He also confirmed that two fresh stillbirths were recorded as a result of delayed access to healthcare during labor.

He cited the case of a woman from Awoma who was forced to deliver her baby in the back of a vehicle after being turned away from two health facilities.

The baby was cyanotic—showing signs of oxygen deprivation—but was successfully resuscitated by the team at Cedarville.

Both mother and child were discharged two days later in stable condition.

Dr. Doh added that several emergency cases were saved during the strike period, including a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and a perforated appendix.

He expressed deep concern over the human cost of the strike and prayed such actions by the nurses and midwives never happen again.
